If you are new to the sport with absolutely no experience at all, don't worry as we will have our qualified instructor, Damo, running free lessons!

The RQYS is hosting a FREE windsurfing have-a-go day at the Squadron on Friday 2nd July from 10am until 3pm, the day before the start of QLD Youth Week. NO WINDSURFING EXPERIENCE REQUIRED! So tell your friends and get along to try windsurfing, there'll be Techno 293 boards and mini-rigs available for absolute beginners through to advanced sailors.

When you attend a windsurfing lesson with Damo, you actually get two lessons in one! You get a sailboarding lesson, and a basic stand up paddle boarding lesson!

Damo has found that the most effective way to run lessons is by using a combination of paddle boards and sailboards. So while you are sailing, he can be paddling without a sail in the way which allows him to better instruct you on the use of a sailboard. Then while Damo is giving demonstrations, you can be on the stand up paddle board so that you can easily see what Damo is doing and how he is doing it since you aren't worrying about your sail, or even worrying about staying on your board since paddle boards are so easy to maintain balance on.

Using a stand up paddle board offers an advantage over an alternative such as a kayak as well because it gives both you and Damo a higher vantage point to watch from!

So you get to learn the basics of handling a stand up paddle board whilst also learning how to sailboard, hows that for value?
